This country's red and green

Succesful arrival in Asuncion!  ...despite a minor mishap in the Buenos Aires airport, where we were nearly detained for having sketchy looking visas. Some had whiteout on them and some had words printed on top of other words--which made them Strangely unnoficial looking... but after several phone calls they let us board the now slightly delayed flight. And now we have arrived in Asuncion! We'll spend the night playing catchphrase and watching strange Paraguayan dance competition tv shows before heading to Guarambare in the morning. Tomorrow afternoon we'll get some vaccinations and meet the host families we'll live with for the next 3 months. I'm currently writing this post slowly on my awkward kindle keyboard thanks to its 3g connection, so no more details for now, but technology rocks!

No more earrings, no more nail polish, but don't worry, my socks still don't match :)

The Brink of Departure

Just saying HELLO so I can say GOODBYE

I am now officially considered a PEACE CORPS TRAINEE (PCT) and have just now finished staging sessions in Miami.  There are 34 other amaaazing trainees in my training class, and I am super stoked to head to Paraguay with them at 11:20 tonight.  We actually arrive in Asunción tomorrow (Thursday) at about 4:45pm, and then orientation begins!  About half of us are Environmental Ed/Conservation (like me), and the other half are going to work in Agriculture.  I'm under the impression that we'll generally be split in half for a lot of our training in-country, so I assume that it'll be along these lines. We'll seee...

SO goodbye, United States--I already miss you all and appreciate all the texts and messages. Unfortunately I'll soon have to stop responding to them, but keep on sendin!  I'm still nervous but muuch more excited (especially with the stress of packing behind me).  I'm not sure when I'll have internet again but

LET THE ADVENTURE BEGIN

It's still not quite real yet...

Hey folks, thanks for stopping by!

Hopefully, this will be the least interesting post in the blog, but I've gotta start somewhere, right?  Thank you to everyone who came by my going away party this weekend--it was great to see you all, and although I hate saying all the goodbyes, it was a lot of fun.

I fly to Miami on Sept 27, and then to Asunción, Paraguay, on the 28th.  Training will take place in Guarambaré for the first 3 months.  I have no idea what my internet access will be like, but I'll try to keep you all as updated as possible.

In the meantime, I'm allowed to pack 80 lbs for the next 27 months.  Wish me luck, and tips on efficiency are always welcome :)

As for the blog title, I get all my most important facts from Snapple: http://realfacts.snapple.com/readyaimfarce/ (with a shout out to Brad).

Cheers!
